How To Help

Last year was a very positive one for Millbrook Matters and we are hoping to continue that good work in the upcoming year. Raising public awareness about important local issues takes time and support. If you are interested in being a volunteer, guest columnist, getting involved in any of our community projects, or making a contribution, please call or write us. We look forward to hearing from you!

Millbrook Rescue Squad Needs Your Help

By Liz Baldwin
December 06, 2007

For the past sixty years the Millbrook Rescue Squad has been 100% volunteer. Recently due to a shortage of volunteers, available during the daytime, the village has had to supplement the service with a paid provider. The cost of hiring this paid ambulance service is very high and rising. We want to return to an all-volunteer service covering the town and village 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. That means we must recruit more volunteers NOW.

It is up to the people of this town and village. If we cannot find volunteers willing to serve, we will have to pay higher taxes. We need people right now to express interest and offer whatever time they have available. We can work with you if you want to work with us. If you want to help, but don’t think you can for ANY reason, let us know that you are interested. You may be surprised to find out how helpful you can be.

If you are a weekender or live in a rural area, your contribution of time and your commitment would be valuable. If you work in the area and would like to volunteer, talk to your employer. When they realize how important this service is to the whole community and how it will help keep Millbrook affordable, they may allow you to respond from work.

Explain the situation to your neighbors and encourage your friends to join too. All are welcome. All can help. Spread the word that we need the people that live and work in Millbrook to help their neighbors. A caring and compassionate community is the best place to live—and we know Millbrook is the best.
